Report: Man handcuffs girlfriend to prove a point

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department arrested a West Columbia man after he handcuffed his girlfriend to prove a point, according to sheriff’s deputies.

According to the incident report, 33-year-old Michael Robert Shelley was arrested on a charge of criminal domestic violence in connection with assault on May 3.

Deputies say around 8 a.m. they responded to a domestic call in the parking lot of Big Lots located at 3230 Augusta Road.

Columbia Jaycees to Host a Movie at the Nickelodeon Theater on May 16th

The Columbia Jaycees will be hosting an outing to the Nickelodeon Theatere on Wednesday, May 16th. The theater is located at 937 Main Street in Columbia. They will be seeing the movie “Coriolanus” at 8:00pm. Admission is $7.50 and drink specials at The Nick include buckets (4 bottles) of PBR for $6 or Yeungling for $8. Wine will also be available for purchase.

Columbia Jaycees to host Baseball Game on May 31st

The Columbia Jaycees will host a good old fashioned game of Blowfish baseball at the Capital City Stadium.

Come out and enjoy America's favorite pastime on Thursday, May 31st. The game begins at 7:05pm, but gates open at 6:00pm. Arrive early to take advantage of their "Thirsty Thursday" deals: two for $3 Bud & Bud Light cans and $2 16oz Bud Light drafts.

Tickets are $7, but pair up with a friend and bring at least 2 non-perishable food donations to receive a complimentary ticket with the purchase of one regular priced ticket.

LE Memorial Dedication to be held May 17

Law Enforcement officials throughout Lexington County have been working together since March 2010 to construct a monument to honor their fellow brothers and sisters who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the citizens of the county. The monument, designed by local SLED Agent Mike Lynch, has been placed on the Marc Westbrook Courthouse grounds.
