Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies in partnership with Timberlake Plantation Owners Association and Timberlake Country Club will conduct the second annual Timberlake Youth Triathlon at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 25 at Timberlake Country Club, 222 Timberlake Drive, Chapin." alt="<--break->" src="/sites/all/modules/wysiwyg/plugins/break/images/spacer.gif">
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said all proceeds from the Timberlake Youth Triathlon will benefit GoodWorks, 118 St. Peters Church Road, Chapin. GoodWorks is a ministry that was established in 2002 in order to provide assistance to persons who are in need of assistance in the Chapin, Little Mountain, Irmo and Prosperity communities.
Metts said parents can register their children to participate in the triathlon only by registering in advance at: http://www.active.com/triathlon/chapin-sc/timeberlake-youth-triathlon-2012. The cost is $30 per participant. Registration will be limited to 100 children.
During the triathlon, children ages 5 and younger will swim for 10 meters, ride a bicycle for one-quarter of a mile and run for 100 yards, Metts said. Children ages 6 and 7 will swim for 25 meters, ride a bicycle for one mile and run for three-quarters of one mile. Children ages 8 and 9 will swim for 50 meters, ride a bicycle for three miles and run for three-quarters of one mile.
During the triathlon, children ages 10 and 11 will swim for 100 meters, ride a bicycle for three miles and run for three-quarters of one mile, Metts said. Children who are age 12 will swim for 150 meters, ride a bicycle for three miles and run for three-quarters of one mile.
The Timberlake Youth Triathlon is sponsored by Timberlake Plantation Owners Association, Timberlake Country Club, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Gallup & Gallup, Green Earth Lawn Service, Chapin Pediatrics, Harrell & Associates, P.A., Clark’s Home and Construction Solutions, Dr. Pepper/Snapple, Palmetto Health, Palmetto Graphix, Anytime Fitness, REMAX Real Estate Chapin, Chapin Eye Care Center, O’Leary Orthodontics, Midlands Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Capt.
