Midlands Tech students donate stuffed animals to sheriff's department | Community Spirit
LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Students in an early childhood education class at the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus donated 118 stuffed animals to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
The stuffed animals will be given to children who are victims of crimes or who are involved in traumatic incidents to help comfort them.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said Sgt. David Nieves, Code Enforcement Officer John Hatchell and Code Enforcement Officer Chris Mixon accepted the stuffed animals on behalf of the Sheriff’s Department Monday.
Students in the Principles of Ethics and Leadership in Early Childhood Education class at the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus donated stuffed animals to the Sheriff’s Department as part of a leadership and advocacy project, Metts said.
The goal of the donation was to help the Sheriff’s Department better serve children who are in difficult circumstances.
“We are very grateful for the donation of the stuffed animals,” said Metts. “The donation of stuffed animals will assist deputies in fulfilling our agency’s mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County.”
