CHAPIN, SC (WIS) - A water main break forced Columbia Waterworks officials to issue a boil water advisory for the Chapin area Sunday.
The City of Columbia says the boil advisory affects customers northwest of the intersection of Old Lexington Highway and Sid Bickley Rd., including Chapin and the Amicks Ferry Rd. area.
Customers are advised to boil water for at least one full minute before cooking or drinking. The boil advisory is recommended for customers who lost water or water pressure.
City officials say a 12-inch water line broke, causing a possible bacterial contamination of water in the neighborhood. They say they are working on the problem.
