Coroner: Man stepped in front of moving vehicle | News

CHAPIN, SC (WIS)- A Midlands man is dead after being hit by a vehicle he stepped in front of Tuesday evening, according to the coroner's office.

Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman said Jimmy M. Caughman, 57, of Little Mountain, was walking on Westwoods Drive in Chapin around 6:23 p.m. when he
stepped in front of an eastbound pickup truck. 

Caughman was transported to Lexington Medical Center where he died
at 8:49 p.m. as a result of the injuries he received in the collision, Harman said. 

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington
County Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
